Introduction
Steps to Christ is a wonderful, Bible based, book on the fundamentals of the Christian life. It covers all aspects of our walk with Jesus: How to get started, how to enjoy the walk, the growth we will experience, the sacrifice we will discover, how our Christian experience will begin to have fruit. I have found that even when my relationship is close with Jesus, reading this book helps me grow even closer to my Savior. And when I am feeling far from Jesus, this book is the best to help me rediscover a connection with Him. One of the fruits of the joy and peace that comes with knowing Jesus is a desire to share the gospel news with others. If you would like to share the joys of walking with Jesus, I have found one of the best ways to do that is by sharing Steps To Christ with the people I meet.
Ellen G. White felt it to be one of her greatest duties to lead the readers of her books to the greater light of the Bible, and the original text of the book has many Bible verses listed. However, while reading the text, you will hear echoes of many other Bible verses, stories, and themes. One of the most powerful ways to build your faith, while reading this book, is to search out these Bible texts. One of the most powerful ways to apply the lessons in this book is to include the Bible in your study of this book.
So I prepared this new edition of Steps to Christ, which is designed to easily point the reader to the greater light of the Bible. Where portions of verses are quoted in the text, the complete Bible verse is presented. Where themes or references to Bible stories are mentioned, you will find some verses on those topics. My goal was to find Bible verses to supplement every theme of this book. I am sure that you will find I have missed many more possible connections, and as you discover verses that speak to you on the themes in this book, please personalize your your copy with the results of your study. If you'd like to share your discoveries with me, I may include your verse suggestions in an upcoming edition of this book. Each time you pick up this book, pray for the guidance of the Holy Spirit to open your heart and mind. To sharpen the Sword that is the word of God, your Bible, use your Bible to look up the verses. You might consider making chain references in your Bible between related verses. Chain references are notes you can make in the margin of a Bible verse telling what other verses are related. If you are using this book as a lesson study with a friend, be sure to help them with looking up the Bible verses as they read. Explore some of the additional surrounding verses of the Bible with them, and praise the value of God's revelation. Help your friend make some chain references in their Bible so they get familiar with using their Bible to reference these themes. These chain references will help them find the information in the future, and prepare them to share with their friends the new faith they are discovering.
May God richly bless your study of this book and His word. - Garnet
