I was having trouble figuring out what to title this blog post until just a couple of minutes ago.
For the longest time, all the political news has been Obama... Hillary... Hillary.... Obama... Hillary... Obamma... Obama.... Obama....
On and on. Seems to me like the democrats have an interesting strategy going to keep up this fight as long as possible so as to monopolize all the media attention. If it takes 45 minutes of the news hour to cover all the comments about their shennanigans, there is no time left to cover anything about John McCain
.
So I decided to see if my theory was correct. I went to dinner at 7pm, and I spent an hour watching Anderson Cooper's 360 whatever on CNN. During that time, sure enough, I heard more "Obama this", and "Hillary that", than anyone should have to go through during their dinner hour.
McCain
's name was mentioned just twice, and as quickly as possible. It was mentioned that a poll said if Hillary wins the nomination, then 25% of democrats will vote for McCain
, and just 53% of democrats will vote for Hillary. The "senior political consultant" (they were all of at least that rank it seemed) was aghast, and moved on as quickly as possible from that bar chart.
What were the things they covered (I'm doing this from memory, eventhough I'd like to forget the last hour):
- Hillary won Pennsylvania
- Hillary raised a lot of money
- But so did Obama
- Exit polls explain why people were choosing Obama or Hillary
- Demographics are everything in figuring out who is voting for Hillary or Obama
- Indiana might vote for Obama in the areas that are black.
- Obama also does well with the college aged crowd
- But Indiana has slightly less college age and educated voters than other states, and less educated voters tend to vote for Hillary.
- A viewer daring them not show a video of a bear falling out of a tree, so of course they did.
- And what about the seniors? Can they handle the change of Obama, or will they pick the safe choice of Hillary?
- Hillary loaned her campaign $5 million dollars.
- Obama Hussein is a lot of change for certain kinds of voters to accept.
- Why shouldn't Obama offer Hillary the chance to be vice president?
- Hillary talking about her formidable opponent outspending her 3-to-1, but the people of Pennsylvania having a different idea.
- Hillary isn't shy to ask for money.
- Hillary raised 10 million dollars.
- But Obama raised a bunch of money too.
- General Petreus is getting a promotion, so is his deputy (but don't mention anything about any improvement in Iraq)
- A bear used in a Will Ferrell movie mauled and killed someone.
- Let's listen to the 911 tapes of someone frantic calling after the mauling about the man bleeding from the neck.
- Back to more coverage of Hillary vs. Obama.
I think the show was going to be on for another hour. I couldn't stand it any longer.
Did you miss the mention of John McCain
? If you didn't pay close attention you would have. If I'd been getting a refill from the buffet at that moment, I would have entirely missed it.
Oh, I forgot, they did give John McCain
a whole 30 seconds maybe:
- John McCain
saying the economy is better - Narrator and giant print "Worst unemployment rate ever"
- John McCain
saying Americans are better off - Narrator "Do you feel better?"
- John McCain
saying something else positive - Narrator "Worst blah blah blah"
It was an attack ad by democrats.org. 30 seconds pause in the school yard food fight between Hillary and Obama to remember to lob a spoonful of grits and pig slop at John McCain
.
Other than that, you could be forgiven if you thought that McCain
had dropped out of the race.
Just to double check, I visited http://www.johnmccain.com
to make sure he is still in the race.
Let's see.. He has a cool video showing, "The American President that Americans Have Been Waiting For".... Hmmm, no nastiness.

John McCain
isn't kicking back. Seems like a lot of newsworthy stuff.
But CNN sure doesn't have any time for any of it.
In my next blog post, I'll take a closer look at John McCain
.....
 | I almost forgot about my title
Oh yeah! I almost forgot.... How did I choose the title of this blog post?
The very last story I saw in CNN's Anderson Cooper's 360 thing was a story and pictures and discussion about someone's waffle being auction on ebay.
I thought to myself, better wait and see if that story was finally going to be John McCain coverage.
Nope! It was Barack Hussein Obaama's half uneaten waffle being auctioned on ebay!
Can you believe it! Even a half eaten waffle of a democrat is worth more coverage than John McCain !
I hope their viewership numbers are crashing and burning! |
