How smart police are dealing with stolen cars

To get around lojack, thieves take cars and park them in a large parking lot and wait to see if the police show up to get the car. This can be as quick as 30 minutes. If no one shows up in two or three hours, then they figure their is no lojack, and they can take the car and move on with it.

But in Maryland and Washington D.C. they have a way to work with the auto companies to use more advanced systems that let them actually go and catch the bad guys while they are still in the car.

State of Virginia has seen the success in dealing with the stolen cars. So they have started the same thing, and they have had a 40% drop in auto theft.

OnStar took up the baton from lojack.
