Verizon - We can't remove wrong charges from an account after it is cancelled

I am so glad I am not a Verizon customer anymore.

Called back around May 16 to cancel my Verizon phone service plus DSL. I've been so frustrating at them sending me $250 a month bills for basic phone service plus slow DSL. And cramming extra charges on the bill like 50GB of online backup for $7/mo. I often carry around 3 or 4 1000GB external drives with me. Do I sound like someone who needs 50GB of space on their machines?

Since at least January, I keep calling in and explaining all the reasons I don't need that service, why I would never order it, how I dont like it being "crammed" on my phone bill. I also call and complain about the overall $250 a month price. They say oh, yeah we'll get it off your bill, and we'll adjust some other things on your bill, we can get this down a lot lower. Then the next time I get a bill, it's still almost $250 a month, and that stupid backup charge keeps showing up.

I finally called to cancel everything! Work order went through to cancel the voice May 17. but they charged me another month for the entire DSL service. Plus that stupid backup add-on!

I called in to find out why everything didn't get cancelled, and to complain about how it is impossible for me to use DSL without a phone line to carry it. Someone claimed after the May19 bill, they cancelled the DSL on May 23, and I'll get yet another bill, just hang tight, the month ahead they billed me on May 19 will get reverse. Will it get reversed from May 23 onward, or from May 17? He didn't know.

I then told him I understood to wait for that reversal, and that I understood the charges for this backup service showing on the May 19 bill will be reversed. But I've been complaining about that charge for months, and kept being told it would get taken care of and removed off my account, but here it is again. Can he please check a few of the previous months bills, and make sure they got reversed, and if not, please take care of that.

He told me that now that I have cancelled everything, no way can they look back into the bill, whatever I used I will have to pay for. Asking him if he heard me say it's a service I never used, and had been actively protesting did no good, he would repeated his idiotic proclamation.

I ended up getting bounced around to 5 other people in various departments including the chase deadbeats for their bills, "payment center", "financial services", the regular billing department people, several times, all claiming they couldn't look into my phone bill, and many offering to send me back to the department I had previously talked to.

I finally found someone who was able to reverse a couple of months of the charges. She claimed she looked through the records, and found no record of me ever complaining about the backup service.

So glad not to be their customer....
