What is sucrose?

Sucrose is the technical name for sugar. Sucrose is a disaccharide, meaning it is composed of two simple sugars (or monosaccharides), glucose and fructose, which are linked together. Since these molecules contain carbon, they are known as organic compounds, and sucrose is a disaccharide.
