• My idea: Disable user account control for the duration of the install - Didn't try

• Ignore the error on a full install of Tomcat 5.5.23. The system tray icon will appear, with "Configure" the only option.
  • Change startup type to automatic
  • Service start is no a given option.
  • Going to windows services applet will say the service is marked for deletion if installed immediately after an uninstall.
  • Uninstall reinstallation, reboot, then install.
