One of the great benefits of wiki is the complete history of revisions that it keeps for all of your pages. Feel free to let users edit your pages. Some people will add great comments and informations, others might simply want to correct the ocassional typo that they notice. If there is an edit you don't like, you can easily reverse the edit by reverting to a previous version of the page.
Tips:
- Regularly watch the "Recent Changes" list for your space. Get to it from the "Browse Space" -> Pages -> Recently Changed link within your space.
- View the revision history for a page by clicking on it's info tab.
Remember, it's a wiki. Most people familiar with wikis will expect to be able to help edit your wiki pages. And for your friends who are new to wiki, they can't harm your site. So let them join in the fun of contributing to your site.
Protecting Your Space From Editing
As a space administrator, you can set the overall rights to your space. Go to your space, click on "Browse Space" -> "Space Admin" -> Permissions. Only someone with administrative privileges can edit the permissions for the whole space.
- How you could use this:
- Edit permissions only granted to users you approve: You could set the Confluence-Users (which is all users logged in) to only have view rights. You would then add your users, one by one as they register accounts, to the users section and give them extra privileges to edit.
- Leave your space generally open to editing, but use page permissions to limit editing on certain pages.
Protecting just a few pages
There are also page permissions. When editing your page, look toward the bottom for "Restrictions". Click the edit button next to it. You can set the page to only be editable by yourself, or by a group.
Setting up a group for your moderators
If you have a group of moderators, a group can be created to contain the list of your moderators. At this time, system groups can only be edited by a system administrator.
