How To Get More Readers For Your Blog

Congratulations on your new blog! You have some readers, and you have some comments, so you are on the right track. But now you are thinking about how to get more readers? That is the real object of many blogs.

There are two ways to get more readers:

  • 1. Form an alliance with other bloggers with related subjects to your blog, and...
  • 2. Start commenting on other people's blogs (also with related content.)

When people are reading blogs, they will look through the comments they find on their favorite blogs. If they see an interesting comment with a link to something related to the article they just read, they may get curious and follow the link back to your blog. If they like it, they'll subscribe.

Presto! A new reader for your blog!

Creating a blog alliance requires finding other bloggers with related or similar content and contacting them. Make a deal with them that you will comment on all their blog posts and in return, they will comment on all your blog posts.

Google ranks blogs by the number of comments posts get so this is a good deal to make with about 5-7 people. More than that and it will become unmanageable.

The second method is to start commenting on other blogs all around the Internet. Again you must choose blogs that have content and topics that are related to your blog. Make sure your comments are helpful and add to the conversation. Comments like, "Wow, great blog post. Thanks." will get deleted.

To do blog comenting, you will need two things. One is a gravatar. It's an image of you that is attached to the email address you use when you comment on other people's blogs. Then every time you comment, your picture will show up next to it. Here's where you can get your free gravatar.

I use a tool to find blogs to comment on because I don't have all day to spend on my computer trying to find related blogs with a high page rank (a high age rank is important because usually, the higher the page rank, the longer the blog has been around and the more readers it has. Commenting on blogs that have no readers is a waste of time).
