The supplemental index at Google is a list of pages that

  • don't show up in ordinary searches
  • require phrase searches using quotes to be found

Issues that cause a page to land in the supplemental index:

  • Orphaned pages without links from other places on the same site
  • Duplicate titles and heading
  • URL Canonization. Reference
  • Issues with the content
  • Lack of sufficient incoming links
