Advice to a friend who was sharing some cool things he was researching:

When you're researching, it don't count if it don't result in a wiki page!

I'm a big believer in recording notes about things I see into my wikis.

Here's what I think you should have done:

When you're researching allotropes of carbon, immediately start a wiki page "Allotropes of Carbon" - Make notes on what you're reading. Note the urls. Quote a few sentences (not the whole thing), reword a little... Save it. If you have a couple (two or three) paragraphs on something like Buckminsterfullerenes, create a link in your current page to that new page name, save it, then click the link to the new page, and put the text about the bucky balls. Save it. Then go back to the original page.

Then you'd have several cool new wiki pages that you could build on in the future.

Without doing that process to record something in the wiki, researching is just lost time... You're working hard to figure out how to "organize" things into a framework, and that's good, but you can be a lot more free form, and that will be ok too....

As you can see from the comments, it's getting a lot of notice. If I hadn't put that in the wiki, it would have all been for nothing....

Maybe we need to do a video conference with Adobe Connect so you can see my screen as I am going through doing some wiki pages as I research some things. I'll see if I can set that up in the next day or two.
