After watching the 2008 39th Republican Convention speeches of Palin and [McCain]

My wife, who can not vote because she is only a permanent resident, really likes Sarah Palin. She watched Palin's speech last night, and [McCain]'s speech tonight. My wife does not consider herself a feminist. But she feels like [McCain] and Palin look like a good team. Sarah Palin does present herself well, and [McCain] is also a decent speech giver.

In his monologue, Savage spends too much time tooting his own horn and too little time really spelling out his opposition. He should make it clearer what his objections are to Palin: It seems Savage is saying that Palin won't win over the Hillary diehards, and he doesn't feel she will be strong enough on protecting America. Savage believes that [McCain] needs to win over some of the Hillary crowd in order to win the election. My wife feels that Palin will get the Hillarites because Palin will appeal to women, she is a symbol for the ones who were tired of Hillary being "the only one". The woman is articulate, and she carries herself very well. Sarah Palin has guts, she came here expecting a challenge, she will not back down.

From a media standpoint, they did a good presentation, and that does count for a lot in our culture, unfortunately often more than the issues.

According to Savage, [McCain] has done very little to reassure conservatives on issues such as Borders / Language / Culture. "[McCain] is too middle of the road for me," says Savage. "People know the difference between a war hero like [McCain],... and the difference between him and a man whose only claim to fame is stapling notes to poles in Chicago." [McCain] did try to assure us that he would battle the special interests, and cut failed government programs, and be concerned about real Americans struggling economically.
