Fresh Air and Terry Gross on KQED

Terry Gross also replayed an interview with Tammy Faye Messner (was Tammy Faye Baker) where they talked about her being an icon in the gay community, and Terry tried to get Tammy to admit to feeling guilty about an "opulent" lifestyle.

  • Example of Terry Gross liberal bias: Terry Gross spent a good portion of the interview focusing on Tammy Faye involvement with the gay community.
    • Terry Gross tried to paint preachers denounciation of gay lifestyle as being horrible, and bait Tammy Faye to condemn them or suggest they should be restricted from preaching those things. But Tammy Faye refused, she held fast to saying "Preachers should be able to preach from the Bible."
    • Tammy Faye says she's agreed to disagree with the gay community, but to love them regardless of their lifestyle.
  • Terry Gross also tried to portray Tammy Faye and Jim Baker as having an oppulent lifestyle, and to paint that as horrible too, as being way beyond the lifestyle of those giving the money to the ministry. Tammy Faye gave an excellent conservative rebuttal of the idea that their hard work was giving them something they weren't entitled to:
    • Tammy Faye pointed out their salary was decided by their board of directors.
    • Tammy Faye pointed out that they worked very very hard.
    • "If you have money you don't have to worry about money, but if you don't have money, it's all you think about"
    • They never considered their status relative to the donors, they were working very hard, "Jim was working 24 hours a day".
