- Ian Fried wishes wikipedia would call him Ina Fried. He uses his CNET tech blog "Beyond Binary" to complain that wikipedia can't force authors to follow gender-reassignment-affirming standards in pronoun usage. Another complaint against people that think that boys should be boys, and girls should be girls.
- He says: (Until a few years ago, one's anatomy or legal status dictated AP's assignment of pronouns. In recent years, though, the AP and other news organizations have adopted policies that transgender individuals should be referred to with the pronouns with which they themselves identify.)
- Some comments from other readers:
- How is your personal life considered tech news? Be professional and write about something technical rather than your choice of gender.
- Odd news item. Yes cnet is diverse and all, but geez dudette have some tact.
