Religion Explained
Pascal Boyer

$17.50(USD)

Many of our questions about religion, says renowned anthropologist Pascal Boyer, are no longer mysteries. We are beginning to know how to answer questions such as "Why do people have religion?" Using findings from anthropology, cognitive science, linguistics, and evolutionary biology, Religion Explained shows how this aspect of human consciousness is increasingly admissible to coherent, naturalistic explanation. This brilliant and controversial book gives readers the first scientific explanation for what religious feeling is really about, what it consists of, and where it comes from.

Boyer Mallo Cup 24 Packs

Boyer Brothers, Inc. was a candy company located in Altoona, Pennsylvania. Founded by brothers Bill and Bob Boyer, with help from their mother Emily, the company initially produced Mallo Cups, a cup-shaped candy consisting of a marshmallow center covered with chocolate. Later the company expanded its line to include Peanut Butter Cups, a peanut butter center covered with chocolate, and Smoothies, a peanut butter center covered with butterscotch. The company also produced other short-lived cup candies such as Fluffernutter, a mixture of marshmallow and peanut butter covered in chocolate. The company was acquired by American Maize Products in 1969 and then by Consolidated Brands in 1984. Throughout their history, Boyer candies have been well-known for the coins printed on the cardboard package insert. The coins are collectible and redeemable for prizes. The 80's Punk band Lemonheads featuring Ben Deily and Evan Dando released a song called 'Mallo Cup' off of their 3rd LP called 'Lick.

The Music of Peter Boyer

$15.99(USD)

The acclaimed debut recording of GRAMMY®-nominated composer Peter Boyer with the world-renowned London Symphony Orchestra. Featuring the works "Celebration Overture," "Titanic," "Three Olympians," "The Phoenix," "Ghosts of Troy," and "New Beginnings," the album was recorded at Abbey Road Studios and originally released by Koch International Classics in 2001. Out of print since 2005, and remastered in 2007 for superior sonic quality, the recording is being reissued under Boyer's own Propulsive Music label, with new artwork, additional notes and session photos. In its original release, the recording enjoyed widespread critical acclaim and was broadcast extensively throughout the United States and Europe. The recording was produced by GRAMMY® winner Michael Fine. Peter Boyer has emerged in recent years as one of the most frequently performed young American orchestral composers, whose music has been widely acclaimed for its dramatic strength and evocative power. Still in his mid-30s, his orchestral works have received nearly 200 public performances, by more than 60 orchestras. His music has received many national and international radio broadcasts, including NPR in the U.S., Classic FM in the U.K., Bayerischer Rundfunk in Germany, Radio France, and ABC in Australia. He has won six national competitions, including two BMI Awards, the First Music Carnegie Hall commission, and the Ithaca College Heckscher Prize. Boyer is perhaps best known for his work "Ellis Island: The Dream of America" (available on the Naxos label), which celebrates the historic American immigrant experience and has become one of the most-performed large-scale American orchestral works of the last decade. In addition to his work for the concert hall, Boyer is active in the film and television industry. He recently composed scores for episodes of The History Channel series "Engineering an Empire," and has contributed orchestrations to a number of major feature films.
