Thank you for bringing up this aspect. I guess this is the way to go in future scientific studies. some people are giving seriour consideration to the hypothesis you referred to.
I am suspicious that either at gene or chromosome level our body contains all the information necessary for making changes that science presently attributes to evolution and will eventually discard the theory of gradual leaps among species as proposed by Darwin. To understand that aspect of change we will be relying much on randomness and chance concepts.
Why we do not see observable leaps in human traits in a short time range?
Because genes need to be very stable (and they actually are)to preserve the integrity and stability of species. They are subject to change only when under the influence of specific stimuli. Manipulating genes to provoke arbitrary changes are usually negative to their expression either in structure (genotype) or in appearance (phenotype).
Yes, I agree that we potentially bear the seeds for different skin colors, sizes, etc. It is a matter of triggering those qualities. However, we may not expect to see in ordinary life process and a short time span that a black person have blonde offspring. (That time span does not need to be millions of years).
