A friend recently gave me the October issue of Smithsonian magazine. Put out by Smithsonian Institute, content similar to National Geographic but without the pictures. Articles more technical and scientific.
Article about Neanderthal man – DNA in relation to modern humans.
Researchers:
- Alan Wilson molecular biologist at Univ of Calif at Berkeley
- Svante Paabo director of genetics dept at Max Planck Institue for Evolutionary Anthropology in Leipzig
My note - mitochondrial DNA is passed on only by female ancestors.
Quote from the article
- "By analyzing the mitochondrial DNA of people throughout the world, Wilson and his colleagues determined that the maternal lineages of everyone alive today converge on a single ancient woman."
Of course, this is used to support evolution – but we know different.
