Egyptian idea of judgement was different that the what we might think: the Egyptian idea of judgment was (though we must be careful; there's a certain amount of development going on here) an immediate passage to the judge of the dead and then either a blissful afterlife in the West or devouring by a horrible beast, depending on how many good works (or magical safeguards) one had piled up.
