Evolution vs. Change

For me, evolution does exist but not as Darwin had formulated that all organisms come from a common descent.

I suspect you mean "change does exist," and that is true. I used to say that I "believe in evolution," meaning what is sometimes called "micro-evolution" or examples of speciation into specialized populations. But that kind of language only serves to confuse when the general understanding of 'evolution' is a progressive change, implying some sort of gain in genetic material. As it is, no valid examples of even "micro-evolution" by "natural" causes (i.e. no intelligent input) have been demonstrated, to the best of my knowledge. (Development of anti-biotic resistance of bacteria has been proposed as a certified example of evolution, but this is not necessarily an example of a genuine gain of information/genetic material. Please see http://www.detectingdesign.com/antibioticresistance.html for a discussion of this claim and the mechanisms involved.)
