I just got double billed by Server Pronto. The double billing cascaded to create a whole bunch of overdraft fees on my checking account.

Serverpronto are not very helpful on the phone, they insist that their online support system be used for all contact with them.

I told them that after this

Upon inspecting my bill, I discovered that they raised their prices on me several times during the last several years. I ordered a "Starter" web server, which was supposed to be priced at $89 quarterly. The cost has gone up, in increments to $123+ per quarter. It was a double billing of these charges that sent my account into overdraft.

I have never agreed to pay an increasingly higher fee for their service. In fact, over the past several years, the price for such services has went down all across the industry.

After this, and especially with their unwillingness to let me speak to anyone about the matter, I have decided that I no longer want to do business with them. It is May 4th, and my service is paid through May 8th.

I told them they are no longer authorized to charge my credit cards.

Unfortunately they have a policy that customers must give 30 days notice to cancel their service. Obviously they didn't do this snafu 30 days in advance of the date of a new quarter of service, but I am very adamant that I don't want to continue paying their fees for another quarter, or even another month, thus rewarding them for their bad behavior.

In addition to the thirty policy, they also demand that the cancellation request form:

  • Must be faxed to their office (or they will ignore it) They say in one place they dont accept the form by mail or email, but in other places say it is ok to email it.
  • Must be complete, (or they will ignore it)
  • Must include a copy of your drivers license (or they will ignore it)
  • Must include a copy of your credit card, front and back (or they will ignore it)
  • Must be signed that you give them permission to charge any termination fees, or other end of account fees, that they decide to charge. (if not signed they will ignore it)

Another disgruntled former customer calls this their "Identity Kit" cancellation system.

I have called several times and been told that some unknown person(s) will process the cancellation. I've asked to speak to search person, since my cancellation is due to their negligence, the 30 day cancellation shouldn't apply. I also object to sending in such information as they request, and I need to make sure that given their screwup, someone who processes these things is going to be willing to

Of course they blaim their billing system, and claim they are trying to patch it. You can find complaints online from people for years that this has been their claim since day one.

I have talked to my bank about the issue:

  • I have disputed both the charges as being for "product not received"

Things to do:

  • Get a new ATM credit card - report the new number to all the places that are charging me for things.
  • Try to find out who processes Serverprontos credit card charges, and attempt to put pressure on that processor.
