2010-08-09 20:19 PST - Now trying to call sprint to report this problem *2 to customer service
- It took 1 min 44 seconds just to get to through the voice prompts to tell me that they are having heavy call volume.
- They suggested turning phone off and back on. I tried that with the wireless data card. they also suggest calling 1-800-211-4727 from a landline phone
- 04:19 phone ringing sound - 19 rings
- Woman answers the phone, she is nice enough, understands my complaint that I am being reminded of the days of 300 baud modems
- I demand service credit for both lines for today, the minimum they can do to compensate me for the two hours I've wasted
- She asks for my zip code
- She says "A lot of outages in California, I'm having to sift through all of them..... Like 30.... (laughter)"
- "Estimated time of repair has come and gone."
- She says main outage is in San Diego. Asks for my exact address.
- "Outage affecting one of the towers in your area"
- She wants to know if I can make and receive phone calls and send text messages, and tell I can do that with the phone, but the data cards only use is for internet, and it is useless even if phone calls and texting works, which of course it doesn't with a data card.
- She gives me an incident ID and offers to send me to the escalations team to see if they can solve the issue
- She also is going to apply for two days service credit, saying it probably wont get fixed until tommorrow
- She is located in Louisiana
- $25 credit posted to my account
22:32 - On hold again
32:51 - still on hold
- 42:04 - Escalations manager finally on the line
- Manager claims he sees no problems on his screens.
- He tried to transfer me to advanced technical support, but the call got disconnected.
Just to make sure the cradlepoint router is not involved in the problem, I unplugged the Sierra Wireless Aircard 595U datacard from the Cradlepoint PHS-300, and plugged it directly into my laptop, and then tried http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest?flash=1 The speed test is reporting less than 10Kb/s
Just searched google for "sprint speed test", and got this url http://www6.sprint.com/landings/speedtest/index.html "Sprint Network Speed Test" - It is taking more than two minutes to come up! Interesting that the google results came up quickly.
Time to give up on this... .It is now 21:15 PST. Lets hope this is all fixed by the time tommorrows stock trading day rolls around.
