- Gather information from VMWare Server
- List of VM's powered on at host startup
- List of all VMs
- Details on how VMware networking is setup - local networks, vs. which adapters each individual net is attached to.
- VMWare refers to the adapters by their device name, and not their windows name - On host get network connection names, "such as "Local Area Connection" and the "Connect Using:" for each, which is the actual adapter name, such as "Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet" along with adapter number.
- VM Server 1.0 images seem to open with no problem in VMWorkstation 8 - no conversion seemed necessary
- If they need to start when computer comes on, move them to "Shared"
- when moving to shared, the directory for shared VM's can not be changed - So go to Edit - Preferences and change the share directory before sharing any VMs
Problem with networking on VMWare Workstation 8:
- Network connection wouldn't allow a specific VMNet to be selected
- Moved virtual machine to Shared
