"After lunch, a mortifying family tradition" is how M describes Cate and family dancing. The movie told as narrative from M's point of view. "She spoke of her vile mother, her grief over the death of her father, glory days when when Richard scooped her up, and then jetisoned the wife and children for what she called a nonstop f!fest. It's a peculiar trait of the privileged, immediate incautious intimacy. But Shiva went well beyond the tendencies of her class. She was utterly candid. A novice confessing to the mother superior."
