I tried calling Sprint Customer Support today (*2), to get support for Windows Vista drivers for the Samsung ip-830w phone and their PCS connection manager software. I tried using the Windows XP PCS connection manager Sprint_PCS_CM_v035, but it failed with some kind of unspecified error.
I dialed *2 to call Sprint Customer service. After navigating past their robot into queue, it said the wait time would be 20 minutes. 35 minutes later, I still had not spoken to a human. When I finally got to someone he pretended he couldn't hear me, and started giving me some 888 phone number to call. I ran around my room trying to find a spot with better reception, and even outside, but all this idiot would say is that he couldn't hear me, and then he hung up.
Hanging up on me after claiming he couldn't hear me. So much for the old pin drop. What a clever way to trim their customer support queue.
I was quite angry. I called *2 again, and this time the system said I'd have a 3 minute hold time. But after a couple of minutes Letty came on the line.
I tell her I need software for Windows Vista to get my phone to work with Windows Vista. She starts asking me about "Installing Windows Vista on the phone". Arggghh...
Later she figures out that they haven't bothered to provide Vista drivers. Too bad, nothing for me to do except waste lots of my time going back to their website to check for the drivers. They can't be bothered to add me to a notification list. I only have the second line and phone to use as a data device with my laptop, and I ask her what use is my phone if it won't work with my laptop anymore. Maybe I should get rid of it. She assures me they will charge me $200+ termination fee if I get rid of the line.
She finally goes to her supervisor who tells her that the Windows XP software will work.
Go to sprint.com/downloads, specify windows xp, then download and install "Sprint PCS Connection Manager for Phone as Modem/USB Cables"

It doesn't work.
Creating a support ticket.
30 minutes
My idea: try with norton auto-protect enabled. Still no luck.
Woman comes back to tell me the system is not letting her create the support ticket.
Time on call 37 minutes
Supervisor: javier
Letty claimed she couldn't create the support ticket, and that the supervisor would call me back with the support ticket number. Of course, here it is two days later, I am adding these details, and no one has phone back.
