Need to crackdown on bogus lawyers

A FEW months ago, there was a case about a bogus lawyer who had been practising and attending court cases for years before somebody realised it.

This classic example makes one wonder how many such culprits are there in the country.

When I read about bogus lawyers and the number of unsolved cases involving them recently, I was disturbed to realise the high number involved.

This should be a wake-up call for the authorities to crackdown on bogus lawyers.

I urge the police and the relevant agencies to take immediate action to tackle this menace. Law is a very noble profession and lawyers are responsible to uphold justice, honesty and fairness.

They are role models for many students who want to become lawyers.

Only stern action against the culprits will serve as a lesson and send a strong message that we will not tolerate this menace.

MAHA KL,

Kuala Lumpur.
